Image Sharing

How to turn a photo into a link and send it anywhere: direct links versus share pages, embedding images in websites and emails, BBCode for forums, and what happens to a link once you have shared it. Every guide explains the steps for phones and computers.

Image Sharing: quick guide

A photo on your phone or computer has no web address until it is uploaded somewhere others can reach. An image host stores the file and gives you links in different forms: a direct link (ending in .jpg or .png) that apps, forums and the Excel IMAGE function can show, a share page for sending to people, and ready-made HTML, BBCode or Markdown code.

Anyone with a link can open it, so treat links as public. Strip location data before sharing, choose an expiry if the image is only needed for a while, and keep your own copy: free hosts remove images under their own rules.

Free tools used in these guides

Everything runs in your browser except the uploader, and nothing needs an account.

  • Image to URL: upload a picture and get a direct link, HTML, BBCode or Markdown, with location data removed.
  • Image compressor: make JPG, PNG and WebP files smaller in your browser, or hit a size such as 100 KB.
  • Resize image: set an exact size like 1080 × 1080, a width or a percentage.
  • HEIC to JPG: convert iPhone photos so they open everywhere.
  • Remove EXIF: see and strip GPS location, camera and date from photos.
  • Image to Base64: turn small images into data URIs for HTML and CSS.
